Beautiful Places
Baxter's Hollow
I spent most of Saturday and Sunday birding with Sylvia, Dottie and Mark at natural areas in Dane, Sauk, Iowa and Rock Counties. Though I do the majority of my birding at Pheasant Branch Conservancy, there are places in Wisconsin within an hour's drive of Waunakee that are simply too beautiful to miss this time of year. Though we found 100 bird species, the only digiscoping I did was a video of a Hooded Warbler at Baxter's Hollow - it was a real treat to watch. With so many birds, wildflowers, insects, scenic vistas, creeks and waterfalls; it's difficult to know what to write and I'm too tired to put much energy into this rather diminutive post.

Cool video. The song that bird is singing is very different from the songs I hear the HOWAs sing here in North Carolina.
Our birds sing the third slur up higher than the first two then dropping back down. Is this bird an anomaly or more typical of the dialect for birds in the Midwest?
The Hooded Warbler in the video was singing an alternate song and not the usual, "The red, the red, the red t-shirt!"

It's a beautiful post...
That's a nice pneumonic that I'd never heard. I haven't heard the alternate song down here, I'll have to keep an ear out.
Thanks!
Nice selection today - the peaceful water and the singing warbler.
Two of my favorite things...
Waterfalls!
Warblers!
WOW!
Wonderful! :)
This really encompasses what I want out of my wheretogowisconsin site, it's refreshing to read others who want to share their travels. Being originally from Washington Cty my travel realm is much different so if I can use your suggestions, I think it would be a nice addition.
Best Regards,
Dawn
